One of the fun parts of falling in love with your kettle is finding new ways to make it even better.
Here are some of my favorite Weber charcoal grill accessories that would be great upgrades and welcomed gifts.
Slow N Sear: Perfect for Smoking!
The Slow N Sear from the Adrenaline Barbecue Company converts a Weber kettle into a slow smoking machine. You can hold “Low and Slow” barbecue temps for about 10 hours on a single load of charcoal. The integrated water reservoir holds a quart of water and provides a humid cooking environment.
Craycort Cast Iron Grates: Serious Kettle Bling!
Cast Iron Grates are sexy.
In addition to being cool as heck they grates from Craycort are also extremely versatile. Craycort provides optional inserts like a griddle, wok and veggie basket that will really change how you think about grilling.
Craycorts are the Cadillac of grates. The only downside is that, like all cast iron, you must keep them seasoned to keep the rust away.
Gourmet Grate System: For the Gadget Lover!
Weber’s Gourmet Grate System is a fun ans stylish way to add some flair to your kettle. The heavy duty chrome plated grate has a removable center insert. The insert can be replaced by a bunch of different inserts like a cast iron griddle, wok, poultry roaster pizza stone or a steak house Sear Station.
The Gourmet Grate is usually sold with one insert. The other inserts need to be purchased separately.
Kettle Rotisserie: A New World of Grilling!
If there is something more satisfying than watching meat spin on a rotisserie then I have no idea what it could be. Personally I do not believe that food tastes better when cooked on a rotisserie but I do believe the grilling EXPERIENCE is much more enjoyable.
Here is a link to a great Weber kettle rotisserie resource guide. It covers the different size rotisseries that are available and includes a bunch of rotisserie recipes.
The great thing about buying the rotisserie is that then you can start lusting for a RiboLater 🙂
RiboLator: So Much Stupid Fun!
If you do get a rotisserie then at some point you will want to invest in the RiboLator. This is an attachment for the rotisserie that lets you grill four slabs of ribs at once with its Ferris Wheel design. Here is a link to a full RiboLator Review that really shows the functionality of the device.
GrillGrates: Transforms Direct Grilling!
Even if you have Craycort grates of teh stainless steel grate you still NEED to get a set of GrillGrates. I highly reccomend the two panel configuration for 18.5 and 22.5 inch kettles.
GrillGrates make grilling over direct heat FUN and EASY. We are talking about the almost complete elimination of flare ups. We are also talking about getting the best sear marks you have ever seen. Here is a link to learn more about this great invention.
Kettle Pizza: Wood Fired Awesomeness!
Turn your 18.5 or 22.5 inch kettle into a wood fired pizza oven! The KettlePizza lets you “Pizzafy Your Grill!”
The KettlePizza has been extensively reviewed by SeriousEats and is a favorite among pizza purists.
It takes a little bit of a learning curve to figure out how to get the fire and temperatures just where you want them. However, once you get the groove of this thing your will be making the BEST pizzas of your life.
Smoking Wood: A Kiss of Smoke!
It can be hard to find just the right smoking wood for your grill session. If you are cooking a brisket you might want some Mesquite. Baby back ribs are divine with Apple. Pork chops smoked with Cherry have never been disappointing.
Weber sells all of those woods, as well as Hickory and Pecan, as either Chips or Chunks.
It never hurts to stock up on a variety!
Burn Baby Burn!
There won’t be any grilling or smoking until that fire gets lit.
Weber has a nice slate of products to help you get your charcoal lit without resorting to lighter fluid.
They have their own line of charcoal, highly functional starter chimneys and paraffin lighter cubes that work a million times better than crumpled newspaper.
